Packing list
Camping packing list
A camping packing list for a long weekend: tent, sleeping bag and pad, camp stove, headlamp, layers for cold nights, first aid and insect repellent.
Forgetting a tent pole or the stove fuel can end a camping trip on the first night. This list is organised so you can check the gear before anything goes in the car.
It assumes three nights in a campground with cold evenings. Shared items — the tent, stove and cooler — appear once, and in Wayfold you can assign each one to a person.

How to use this list
Start a day or two before you leave and pack one category at a time, ticking items off as they go in the bag — your ticks are saved in this browser. Quantities follow the trip above: clothes scale with the number of days, with a little extra for spares. Travelling longer, in different weather or with more people? Open the list in Wayfold and it recalculates for your dates, the forecast and everyone travelling.
Packing tips
- 1
Pitch a new tent once at home to check every part is there.
- 2
A sleeping pad matters as much as the bag: the cold comes from the ground.
- 3
Pack clothes in dry bags or zip-top bags so a wet night doesn’t soak everything.
- 4
Check fire restrictions for your campground before you pack a stove or plan a campfire.
