Packing list for vacation

A packing list for vacation: clothes for a warm week away, swimwear, a dinner outfit, toiletries, documents and chargers. Printable, with UK holiday names.

50 items7 days · warm (highs around 75°F / 24°C) · flying · one adult

Most vacations (holidays, if you are in the UK) look alike from the suitcase’s point of view: a week somewhere warm, long days of walking and sightseeing, a swim or two, and at least one dinner worth dressing up for.

This vacation packing list covers exactly that, for one adult flying abroad for seven days. Treat it as the all-round holiday packing list; for a beach week, a city break or a longer trip, the more specific checklists below go further.

How to use this list

Start a day or two before you leave and pack one category at a time, ticking items off as they go in the bag — your ticks are saved in this browser. Quantities follow the trip above: clothes scale with the number of days, with a little extra for spares. Travelling longer, in different weather or with more people? Open the list in Wayfold and it recalculates for your dates, the forecast and everyone travelling.

Packing tips

  1. 1

Lay everything out before it goes in the case, then put back a third of the clothes. Most people pack for more days than they have.

  2. 2

Pick one colour palette so every top works with every bottom, and wear your bulkiest shoes and jacket on the journey.

  3. 3

Keep your passport, medication, chargers and one change of clothes in your carry-on (hand luggage) in case a checked bag is delayed.

  4. 4

Liquids in hand luggage usually have to be in small containers inside a clear bag. Check your departure airport’s rules before you fill the toiletry bag.

  5. 5

Leave a little space for things you bring home, or pack a foldable tote for the way back.
